Some lighthearted baseball talk (NL East edition)

April 20, 2016

The following is not a preview, but a lighthearted conversation about the NL East, baseball and other things:

Freeman: Was it always this lonely? Chipper: Nah man, it was beautiful and busy and full of life.

Time Wasters: Fan Fail

September 22, 2008

We have all been at a party, maybe it was high school or college, where someone got drunk and passed out before everyone else. And one of the other party goers says something like "hey I found a magic marker". That comatosed soul wakes up at one point, with no idea what had just occurred and that there is a schlong on both sides of their face. Hey he/she deserves it, they fell asleep at 1 and that's rather lame.

So what would happen if you blacked out at a Mets' game? Would you expect people to shame you by piling beer cups on your head? The answer to the question is simple. Yes of course they would, because its funny and its a much needed distraction as they don't really want to watch the bullpen blow it again.

The number of the day is: (Field Trip Edition)

August 14, 2008

10, as in 10 runs given up by Nationals pitcher Jason Bergmann before he was taken out by manager Manny Acta. Included in those runs was a home run to left field in the top of the second by Fernando Tatis and a shot from Daniel Murphy in the top of the third. As Bergmann was getting lit up, there was no one warming up in the bullpen. The only reliever who got up during the inning was right-hander Garrett Mock, but he did it just to stretch. Besides, he is not available to pitch until Thursday. On the other hand, John Maine made it look easy pitching against the Nationals. Making his first start since July 28; he allowed one hit in five innings, struck out six and walked four. Brian Stokes pitched the final four innings to complete the four-hitter and get his first save. The final score Mets twelve to the Nationals zero.

Myself, Ms. LCG, Teach, Stan Yuengling, Bill, and Nancy were in attendance for the gem that Bergmann pitched. It was the biggest blowout I had ever attended and I still had a fantastic time. But who could have a bad time with good friends, a cold beer, a delicious ben's half smoke, and baseball?

Bye Bye Willie

June 17, 2008

The first casualty in the managerial deathwatch is Willie Randolph, who was fired as manager of the Mets at 3:30 a.m. ET. Randolph's firing was announced from the West Coast, after a 9-6 win over the Angels, which stops it from the being the front page story on all the New York tabloids. Yet it doesn't stop the New York Daily News from making a mockery of Willie's jobless situation. Yes that is the actual headline over at New York Daily News, with that you would of expected him to be the one who can't pitch, hit, or field. But alas someone had to take the blame and this time Willie got the finger pointed at him. Jerry Manuel the ex-manager of the White Sox will take over as interim manager for the time being. Expect Willie to end up in Texas or Kansas City or as a bench coach for the Yankees. Atleast his fall from grace wasn't as far as Rainbow Randolph's. (Video maybe NSFW, or Not Safe For Work)
