LCB NFL Picks: Thanksgiving Day Games

November 26, 2008

-11 Tennessee Titans(10-1) @ Detroit Lions (0-11) 12:30 ET: Langston's Pick: The Lions have played better football with Culpeper at the helm, but there defense still folds like a lawn chair. The Lions should come out ready and roaring to put on a show for the nation, as they usually play much better football on Thanksgiving. Calvin Johnson will be the one to keep an eye on for the Lions. He is as steady as they come and is always a treat to watch. Its just to bad there playing the newly humbled Titans. Jeff Fisher should have his squad refocused and ready to roll. Haynesworth and the defense will be angry and ready to crush Daunte and the Lions offense. Lendale White and Chris Johnson will put on a show while running all over the Lions and Ford Field. I like Titans to win in a big way. LCG's Pick: The fact that the Lions have to play the Titans on their big day shows you how much luck this franchise has. I like the Titans to win, but be wary of the spread.

+12 Seattle Seahawks (2-9) @ Dallas Cowboys (7-4) 4:15 ET: Langston's Pick: If there ever was a sure bet in the NFL, it would be the Cowboys and Tony Romo to win on Thanksgiving. The two games Romo has led the 'Boys on turkey day, they have outscored their opponents (Bucs & Jets) 72-13. I like the Cowboys to continue the trend by crushing the Seahawks. LCG's Pick: The Seahawks are a disaster, and it must be due to the departure of Zorn star. All kidding aside, the Cowboys will roll in this one.

+3 Arizona Cardinals (7-4) @ Philadelphia Eagles (5-5-1) 8:15 ET: Langston's Pick: I like the Eagles to win this, due to the fact that the Cardinals will be dealing with a cross country flight and short rest. Philly DC Jim Johnson will bring the heat all day, McNabb will lead the Eagles to the win over the tired Cardinals through the air (in what may be his last start as an Iggle), I will most likely be in a tryptophan induced coma by the 2nd half, and the Cardinals may have to wait one more week to be crowned division champs. LCG's Pick: I would love to pick the Eagles, they are in fact my secret reserve team, but the Cardinals are the better team. I like the Cardinals to win this game, but this will be the game to watch today. So if you take a turkey nap, make sure to wake up for this one. This should help put more of a shine to the finish that is Kurt Warner's MVP campaign.

Time Waster: What I'm thankful for

Every year as I am getting ready for a weekend full of football, Macy's thanksgiving day parade, turkey, cheese balls, and quality time spent with the family I read various articles on what that particular journalist is thankful for. So I figured I would do my part and share what I am most gracious for.

  • My family, the LCG, and friends
  • Summer days spent at the ballpark
  • Vin Scully and the Dodgers
  • Bruce Pearl and the Vols
  • Fall/Winter Saturdays and Sundays, spent watching football
  • Pau Gasol and the Lakers
  • Great writers like Brett Easton Ellis and Cormac McCarthy
  • fantasy sports
  • James Bond
  • the blog, along with our 5 or 6 readers and friends we have met through it
  • Madden
  • Late Night with Conan O'Brien
  • sushi
  • Bear Republic
  • Gus Johnson
  • New Era caps
  • Golf
  • Extra Innings and Baseball Tonight
  • and finally, videos much like the one below and the idiots that bring them to us

Have a fantastic Thanksgiving everyone
