Lakers-Celtics

June 17, 2008

Forgive me for not putting a complete recap of tonights game, final score Boston- alot Los Angeles- a little.

As Boston fans and frontrunners all across the country alike begin to celebrate the latest title in the storied history of the Celtics franchise all I can do is cringe and pick myself up and remind myself of how good the Lakers are going to be for the next five to six years. Congratulations Boston this is your year, but as you keep starters in the game while up 30 to 40 points, beware you are poking the bear with a stick. That bear being Kobe, I hope you realize this is going to give the best player in the world that much more ammunition and that much more to play for. The bear will come back again and again to attack you, and as your team gets older and slower the Lakers will get better, faster, stronger, and the Lakers will not forget this disgusting display of sportsmanship.

Forgive me as I am projecting my disgust onto this article, this has been a tough series to watch and the Celtics put that final touch into it tonight.

I wanted to leave a couple notes as this season comes to an end:

  1. To all the media: The topic that kept coming up in this series is the "great" fans of Boston, and how reinvigorated they are. Lets be realistic, where were they last year? Real fans are present win or lose. Boston is by far the most dominant sports city right now, but it doesn't take real fans to be there when the team is on top. It takes real fans to be there when the team is 20 games under .500. Boston fans can take a couple lessons from Chicago Cubs fans who have been there win or lose for 100 plus years.

  2. To ESPN/ABC having full-time announcers and analysts with zero championships calling the finals. Having guys question the play of Kobe Bryant and the coaching moves of Phil Jackson is hillarious to me, it has no merit. If it was Michael, Scottie, Larry, or Magic I would understand and appreciate it. But the fact is they have analysts that have no championships question the best player in the world and the best coach of all time. These guys simply don't know what it takes and none of them have been the go to guy in their career.

  3. To Bostons Team Physician: Seriously this guy needs to be in Africa helping out the children or something. He helped Paul Pierce return from a career ending knee injury within minutes, he helped Rajon Rondo return from a season ending ankle injury in minutes, and tonight after Ray Allen was poked in the eye and was facing the rest of his life blind in one eye. The doc came through again, Ray Allen emerged on his white horse to lay the pain on the Lakers and their fans. Get this guy at a medical college quick, he is the real medicine man.

Actual final score: Boston 131 Los Angeles 92, Get ready for an excruciating summer of SI commercials Laker fans.
