Kotsay's seventh-inning double off reliever Bob Howry was his 1,500th career hit. Kotsay became the second Brave ever to hit for the cycle, joining Albert Hall who accomplished the feat on September 23, 1987. But Kotsay's cycle was not enough to win the game for the Braves as the Cubbies got the victory 11 to 7, with the game they also got the series sweep.
