The number of the day is:

November 20, 2008

3, as in there are only three more days until I can hold "Chinese Democracy" in my hands. It will be Guns N' Roses first studio album since 91's "Illusion", and has been in the makes for almost 15 years. I have been waiting for this day since I was 8 or 9, and it is finally approaching. I feel like Christmas is coming early this year, but instead of Santa, Slash and Axl are delivering the gift. The more reviews I read the more stoked I get, yet I still get this aching feeling that it won't live up to the expectations. We are talking about the most highly anticipated album of all-time, how could we expect it to live up to the hype?

It has had so many delays and at numerous points in time looked as if it would never be finished, let alone released. Add in the mounting anticipation over the years and there is no possible way it can live up to expectations. Let alone connect with me the way there songs did when I was still an adolescent. The probability of my face being melted the way like the first time I listened to "Appetite for Destruction" or "Lies" is lowering with the rise of my age and levels of maturity.

Enough of this, I was trying to hide my excitement by giving you the typical reasons why this CD will not work. But who am I kidding. I haven't been this excited about a CD since Biggie's release of "Life after Death" and much like Biggie's final work this CD will be amazing. Unlike other giants of the 80s, GNR hasn't been bogging us down with rushed albums or changing styles. They could have made a CD of Axl singing Christmas carols or TV jingles and it would have went platinum. They could have made an album that was forgettable and boring, it would have kept fans quiet and made them happy. The fact that they didn't rush coupled with Axl's perfectionist divo personality will help every song will kick enough posterior to make up for the 15 years of waiting. Maybe just maybe, this CD or CD's will be their crowning achievement and make it well worth the wait.

But at this point, does it matter? What matters, is that it's actually being released. I cannot wait for the 23rd of November when I will happily do my Axl-shimmy all the way to Best Buy. Here is the title track of the album and its safe to that I am already hooked.

Update: After writing this post I found out that you can listen to the entire album on myspace, at GNRs page. I got a chance to check it out and I love what I hear. Only three more days people..

I tried to like it, Langston. I swear I did, but I just can't.
