A game of beauty: part II

August 11, 2009

Last week I was inspired by a Jimmy Cannon quote, this week it was Art Hill.
With those who don't give a damn about baseball, I can only sympathize. I
do not resent them. I am even willing to concede that many of them are
physically clean, good to their mothers and in favor of world peace. But
while the game is on, I can't think of anything to say to them. ~Art Hill
This quote is notable because I tried to think of a topic to converse on with a non-baseball fan. The only thing I could think of, is describing why it is the greatest game of them all. But that would be far too much effort for someone who doesn't even give the game a chance, plus the game is on.

I like this set a lot better than the one you did last week, and I'm not trying to imply that last week's set was bad or anything. This one is just far superior. The one of Lou P. I feel like should be set against a collage of a Chicago city photograph from circa when the curse began.

The Piniella photo was pretty much the entire reason I made the post. Once I saw it, I thought his pain at this moment should be preserved for future generations.
