LCB Hoops Picks: Celts-Cavs

March 14, 2010

Myself and Berndon take a quick look at today's match-up between the Celtics and Cavaliers, a game that had become must-see television but is headed towards being nothing more than another game on Lebron's schedule.

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers @ 3:30 on ABC:
Langston: The Celtics have been struggling. On Friday night they were 5-5 in their last ten games and on a two-game losing streak, during that ten game stretch they lost to the likes of the Nets, Bucks and Grizzlies. Teams, that a year ago who would be the most unlikely to pull off such a feat. Yet on Friday they seemed to get just what they needed, a lay-up game against the Indiana Pacers. A game where they could find their bearings and get back to enjoying basketball, but it didn't last long. Now they get the best team in the league on the road in the first game of a back-to-back, and it's on nationwide. And while the Cavs have looked anything but sharp in the last four (They lost to the Bucks and barely pulled out games against the Pistons, Spurs, and 76ers.) thanks to Lebron taking two nights off, the Celtics really have no shot at this game. They're just not good enough, slowed by injuries and old age. Not a good mix when the Cavs are forced to go small and fast. Lebron flirts with a triple-double, and the Cavs win 103 to 94.

Berndon: I think Cleveland will win. I won't be watching the game. I'm in a full-on college basketball mode, which is even further magnified by the fact that the Bulls' whole team is injured. Boston has been iffy lately, while Cleveland got Bron Bron back on Friday, which gets them a 103-86 win over a Celtic team that is still seemingly saving their energy for the playoffs.
