Number of the Day: Braves take 1/2 game lead over Phillies

May 31, 2010

In the year of our Lord, 2010, on May 31st, the Braves moved into sole possession of first place in the National League East, with a 9-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

This New World Order may not last, but today's win by Atlanta does strike a blow against the Axis of Evil, that is Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and, to a lesser degree, St. Louis and Los Angeles, a group that has dominated Major League Baseball on the field and in the press the last few years.

The Braves now join an alliance consisting of Tampa Bay, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Oakland, and San Diego (all in first place) that looks to turn the tide against baseball's dictatorships.  So consider this, on Memorial Day of all days, a blow for freedom, bravery, and good will towards all in the baseball world.

Its funny seeing you trying to play the underdog, as if the Braves haven't won almost every division title since 1990.

but look at the number of former Braves' players that make strong contributions to other teams throughout MLB. The Braves have lost their image as America's team when they were on TBS almost every night. They do not buy their teams like the Yankees and Red Sox. It is exciting to be a Braves' fan right now for as long as it lasts - two days or all season.
