Things I've Read
In Andrew Kessler, In Chris Jones, In Roberto Clemente, In Teach, In Things I've Read, In WhiskyMay 6, 2011
-One of the most moving pieces on writing I've read this week was "The Chatanooga Fix" by Chris Jones, which led me here and reminded me that my keyboard and I are not alone in the agonizing search for success, whatever that may be.
-Even if the hundreds of people who have already bought his book are the only ones to ever buy it, Andrew Kessler deserves a book to be written about him and probably a movie also. Somehow, starring a young Tom Hanks. Don't worry, though, James Franco is probably already on it.
-Personally, I think MLB should honor Roberto Clemente in the same fashion that they have honored Jackie Robinson--his number should be retired. Period. I read a biography about him when I was in elementary school and ever since then the man has been more than a ghost in my memory banks, but an angel, which is why I'm mesmerized by the idea of a Roberto Clemente graphic novel.
-Oh, and whisky can save the world.
