Joe Mazzulla and Cameron Thoroughman were arrested Monday at PNC Park, where the Pirates were playing the Colorado Rockies. The two were in custody and awaiting arraignment Tuesday.

NASCAR is apologizing for the tire fiasco that ruined Sunday's race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and has already started working to avoid a repeat. Its not like Goodyear had anything to do with it.

The Allstate 400

Jimmie Johnson won the race, but nobody cares about that. The tires were the story. I can understand one competition caution if practice is rained out and nobody is sure how cars handle under race setup, however competition cautions every 12 laps because the tires fall apart that will surely ruin a race and would never happen right? It did happen and it happened at quite possibly the most famous track in the world.

What I'm most amazed at were the announcers saying that this wasn't Goodyear's fault, Richard Childress saying this wasn't Goodyear's fault. Last time I checked Goodyear made the tires for Nascar, so was it Firestone's fault? I'm going on record and saying yes, it was Goodyear's fault. This is not the first time NASCAR has raced on a rough surface, Goodyear was prepared at those tracks. Goodyear has raced on Baja courses, dirt tracks, and road courses, so Goodyear means to tell us they did not have a tire for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway? Pretty much, but it wasn't their fault.

The Allstate 400 and other random NASCAR news.

Well it's time for my favorite race of the year. The Allstate 400. However I'm somewhat upset that NASCAR is so hard up for cash that the formerly named Brickyard 400 is now named after a sponsor, seriously it is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, I'm figuring a few of you may have heard of it.

In other news Ryan Newman is still searching for a team. He claims he's narrowed it down to two teams. I'm willing to bet good money, well at least a PBR's worth that he will be driving a Chevrolet next year and most likely with some guy named Stewart.

Lastly for the Nationwide series fans. Toyota has to present a new engine package to NASCAR. As you have noticed Toyota has won 14 of 21 races, reduced to lowest terms, 2/3's of the races. However nobody said anything over the past three years when the Chevrolets dominated both Nationwide and Sprint. I think what it boils down to, is the fact Toyota still has enough money to run their TRD (Toyota Racing Development) program, while Chrysler, GM, and Ford have had a really, really bad couple of years. The focus of those corporations is not on the development of racing technology, but how in the world to compete with Honda on selling cars. Speaking of Honda, the amount of money that corporation has, I hope they do NOT enter NASCAR, I think they could to quickly make everybody else race for second.
