"Survival of the fittest" is a phrase which is shorthand for a concept relating to competition for survival or predominance and drawn from Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.
There is no conclusive definition of Darwinism anymore as it has been used time and time again by different groups. But I believe this answers the question on how Darwinism may be used to refer to Darwin's proposed mechanism of natural selection. Obviously this kids mother's natural selection was her cousin Billy Joe.
But in all seriousness, this kid deserved to be in the back of the yearbook and merited him receiving "Candle in the Wind" at Graduation as a tribute to his life.
