Time Waster: Getting Naughty with Ray Bradbury

August 16, 2010

You may not want to play this in your office cubicle (due to language), but if you're a fan of Ray Bradbury, science fiction, books, or really anything funny, then you'll want to take a look at this video:

Let's pray there's a Kurt Vonnegut one to follow.

Time Waster: Happy Holidays

December 23, 2009

The latest MVPuppets spots from Nike hit the intranets over the weekend. And if these recent ads are any indication, they will just keep getting better. Now, I don't want to spoil the surprise, so I'll just let you know that they feature a couple of hip-hop's finest. Enjoy.

Dunk of the Week: Shannon Brown on Mikki Moore

October 8, 2009

Sometime today, I will be passing around a "get well" card for Mikki. I would appreciate it if everyone signed the card and wrote a little message for him. And don't worry, I'll tell him it was from all of us.

Link Scrap: Oh no Ocho..

August 23, 2009

It looks like Esteban Ocho Cinco's recent display of kicking skills may be going to his head. I know, it's quite the shocker, but this time he may actually pay for it because he called out the last person anyone should talk trash to, in WBC Welterweight Champion Andre Berto. Cinco, basically said if they were to fight he would knock out Berto. In his response to the wide receiver, Berto pretty much guaranteed everything but a beheading, so good luck with that,Chad.

Today against the Mets, Eric Bruntlett got the first unassisted triple play to end a game since Johnny Nuenn did it for the Tigers on May 31, 1927. For video evidence of the continued failings of the New York Mets, click here.

For those of you that want a more traditional NFL Season preview than what we are currently offering, head over to Hard Knox Sports, where they have their power rankings up for both the AFC and NFC.

I was perusing our new favorite site (Deckfight) today and basically lost track of time. You can say I became enthralled, and I recommend making it a daily read; but for those with time constraints, read his Friday Five from two weeks ago where he gives us 5 bands from North Carolina to check out.

Lastly, here is a little visual and aural stimulation for your Sunday evening.

Time Waster: This is chess, it ain't checkers

In the accompanying clip, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Common do an abbreviated variant of the movie "Training Day." Guess which one plays the part of Denzel's character Alonzo Harris? You got it, none other than McLovin. (NSFW; language)

Timewasters: Nike is still cool, I swear..

August 8, 2009

Sorry for all the videos back-to-back, but the following vids are too good, not to post. Since it's not the NBA season anymore, Nike has taken a break from making NBA MVP propaganda films and instead decided to make commercials for all basketball fans. We here at the LCB, understand you have probably seen these but these are worth a second, third, fourth and even a fifth watch. The first involves Rashard Lewis aka Ice-O, Mo Willams aka Fog Raw, Kevin Durant aka Velvet Hoop, and Andre Igoudala aka Chief Blocka debuting their single "The Hyperizers." Don't criticize, hyperize.

Who's loving the DJ Quik cameo? This guy.

The next video follows Paul Rodriguez in the day of the life, and what makes this clip special is the cameos. But I don't want to spoil the surprise so here you are son..

Time Waster: Michael Jordan Teaches Flight School

August 4, 2009

In the last two days, I boarded four different planes, from Maui to Oahu, from Oahu to Maui, from Maui to Salt Lake, from Salt Lake to Baltimore. I was in the air so much I lost track of time and space and transcended into an existence where time zones are of little consequence--I just was--and there's only one man who can relate to such levels of elevation that cause past, present, and future to collapse into a truly great highlight reel....Enjoy.

Jay Z has declared the death of auto-tune, but with videos like this from The Gregory Brothers I highly doubt auto-tune is going anywhere anytime soon.

Time Waster: This is how we do it..

June 18, 2009

Sorry about putting up video posts back-to-back, but this is too good not to post.

I figure it's also a perfect time to top it off with Lil Wayne's Kobe tribute ...

In total Lil Wayne made 54 NBA player tributes, just in case one of his other favorite players won the championship. My personal favorite was his tribute to Marcin Gortat. Here is a snippet "I wish I could dunk like Gortat, he be dunking like robat, I meant to say robot. When he scores he makes me say wowaweewah like Borat. The game is in the fourth and now I ask who you got? because I'm rolling with Gortat." Until I heard this I never realized how many words rhymed with Gortat. Such a wordsmith, that Lil Wayne.

Time Wasters: NBA Goodness

May 8, 2009

Over the past two seasons the NBA has been putting out some amazing commercials. I figured with each one following the same premise, the ads would get old fast. I was wrong and to prove me wrong again, the NBA released it's two best ads yet. Here they are:

First up Lakers- Blazers:

and Celtics-Pistons:

Obviously of the two, the Kobe-to-Shaq oop is my favorite of the marketing campaign, the editing is crisp and is (as always) visually appealing. However my favorite NBA related clips are done by the guys from Lakers-Fan.com, and heres an example why:

If you don't have a rooting interest in the playoffs, I suggest you pull for the Lakers. If only for the fact that we will get to see more videos like the one above. Alright that is all for now, enjoy the games tonight and the weekend.

It's been a busy time here at LCB HQ, but we will be back soon with new posts. Until then you can enjoy this video.

Push play, you won't regret it.

Time Waster: Ball 8

March 6, 2009

Artie Lange took off enough time from doing horse to appear on the Letterman show on Tuesday. The comedian went on to chronicle a day spent with legendary baseball announcer Bob Uecker during spring training. The story refers to his trip to the booth with Norm McDonald and tells of Uecker's mastery of the cough button. As a former high school soccer announcer I can relate to how hard it is to remember to push the button while talking about how I would rather be somewhere else. That somewhere else, basically anywhere but in a booth next to the old drunk athletic director.

Dunk of the Week: Terry goes back to school

This weeks edition of "dunk of the week" isn't really due to the dunk per se, but more so for the way the dunk was able to be completed. The play took place in last night's game between the Hornets and Mavericks, where Chris Paul dribbles through Jason Terry's legs and then dishes it off at the last moment to Rasual Butler. Enjoy.

NFL Combine: How would you fair?

February 23, 2009

For those of you with the NFL Network, you may have noticed that the NFL combine is under way. The combine is a series of timed drills, interviews, and tests gauging how well the prospective draftees will do in the pros. I believe its safe to say that most of us would fail miserably at a good amount of these drills, except for one; the Wonderlic test. The test is given to prospects to assess how they process information. It has 50 multiple-choice questions, and the test-takers are given 12 minutes to complete the test. A score of 50 is considered perfect (Harvard grad and former Bengals punter Pat McInally has the only confirmed 50) and a single-digit score can get you compared to a bag of nails (Vince Young scored a 6). So how would you fair?If your interested click here to take a shorter sample version. I did a lot better than I thought I would, getting 9 out 10 correctly for a score of 45.

Time Waster: Way too many..

February 16, 2009

This clip is from last nights episode of Flight of the Conchords. Which was directed by Michel Gondry, who directed both Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Be Kind Rewind. This was the first musical number in the episode, and I am posting it for two reasons; I'm trying to make everyone a fan of FotC and I agree with the songs sentiments entirely. The song kicks in around 30 seconds and is possibly NSFW due to language. So throw your headphones on and enjoy.

Dunk of the Week: All-Star Extravaganza

February 14, 2009

This week has been a busy one for myself and the rest of the LCB staff, so much so that I forgot to post a "dunk of the week." So to get you ready for the all-star festivities tonight, I decided to post the NBA's top ten all-time of the dunk contest. Enjoy.
