6, for the six head coaches that have been fired so far in this young NBA season. Before today the Oklahoma City Thunder (P.J. Carlesimo), Washington Wizards (Jordan), Toronto Raptors (Sam Mitchell), Minnesota Timberwolves (Randy Wittman) and Philadelphia 76ers (Maurice Cheeks) had already been through coaching changes. Today Reggie Theus joined the other five in the unemployment line thanks to a 6-18 record. The six coaches fired is the most ever before Christmas.
Theus came to the Kings from New Mexico State, and moved up the coaching ranks quickly thanks to the job he did in Deering, Indiana. Where he led talented point guard Julie Connor and the Deering Tornadoes to multiple state playoffs, and eventually the Indiana state championship game. After leading them to the finals he took a job at the University of Southern Florida and was replaced by this guy. When I think of how much natural coaching ability he has, it is easy to imagine that the former coach of the Deering Tornadoes will rebound from this firing. His agent stated he plans on going back to the college level.

Does this mean that Dick Butkus will be the next Sacramento coach?
