Michael Hipster Runoff Beasley

July 15, 2010

Josh Spilker of Deckfight is back with us to share some words on a man who was booted from the fiesta in Miami before it even got going.  He's crediting the style of the piece to the blog Hipster Runoff, so if you like it, check that out as well.

Michael Beasley, feels like we barely knew you.

Feels like that one time where you smoked pot and were deemed "unstable" is now a letdown.
Feels like if you were more "unstable" on the court, would have made for better basketball.
Feels like most 2nd overall picks are not good, except for Kevin Durant and maybe LaMarcus Aldridge. Darko, Stromile, Tyson, Jay Williams, Emeka, Hasheem and you should play on the Chad Ford all-star team.
Feels like none of this would have happened if Pat Riley would have selected OJ Mayo like he wanted to.
Feels like Dwyane would be happy with OJ, like he is a "lil Dwyane."
Feels like they would've worked it out and OJ would be "living high" on South Beach with more "personal brand relevancy" than in Memphis.

Feels like if Riley would have picked OJ, the "balance of the league" would be different, that 2k10 summer would seem less relevant, that LeBron may have been "loyal" to Cleveland and produced "feel good" memes or went to NYC for more "brand relevant" memes.

Feels like a stretch that LeBron will be a LeBillionaire in South Beach.

Michael Beasley, feels like we barely knew you.
Feels like David Kahn is "unsure" of "his place in this world."
Feels like the Minnesota Timberwolves has 2 many point guards.
Feels like there is "no way they could play together."
Feels like that's what "they" said about the Miami Big Three before they were the Miami Thrice.
Feels like Jonny Flynn, Luke Ridnour and Ramon Sessions are the "mini three."
Feels like they will create "mad havoc" not on the basketball court but in the locker room.
Feels like Ricky Rubio's "brand" is better by David Kahn's "stupid choices."
Feels like this could make Michael Beasley "unstable" and that he may unleash "something" on the team chemistry
Feels like everyone thinks the locker room is where "champions are made."
Feels like Michael Beasley and Darko will be good teammates. Feels like they will have plenty of "relevant topics" to discuss about life.

Feels like those conversations could last 2 hours or 2 minutes.
Feels like the end.

Feels like he could be out of the league in less than two years, or flourish in a system that can get him 20 or so looks a game.

Feels like there is no middle ground.

Definitely feels like the end.

Deckfight: it was inevitable, wasn't it

i actually worked with DeJuan Blair's aunt at one time, and she said that on recruiting visits Beasley referred to himself in the third person as The Beas, making such statements as, "The Beas is thirsty now. Get the Beas a drink." Is it wrong that this is why I root for him to do well?

Don't know if I could pull the interview. Our whole school district is basically not at liberty to discuss the terms in which she left her teaching post...and that's about all I can say.
