The Number of the Day is:

August 30, 2008

85, for the fact that Chad Johnson officially changed his name to Chad Javon Ocho Cinco. Chad Johnson Javon Ocho Cinco took on the moniker of Ocho Cinco two years ago as a reference to his number in Spanish, but as well all know 85 in Spanish is Ochenta Cinco. Anyhow I can't wait until he is traded to a team where the number 85 is unavailable. What are your thoughts on this ridonkulous name change? Plus this is nowhere near as cool as the guy who changed his name to War Machine.

NFL update

June 21, 2008

  • Vernon Carey got a suprise when he came back from a recent cruise, he had been robbed. When he returned home he found his Mercedes GL 550 up on blocks and his four Asanti rims gone. The rims were valued at $ 6000 and nothing else was taken.

  • Atleast all Vernon Carey lost was his rims, Adam " Not Pacman Anymore" Jones' house was put in foreclosure. Jones has defaulted on the terms and conditions of a mortgage with U.S. Bank, according to a notice of foreclosure sale published Thursday in The Tennessean newspaper in Nashville. The home and 30 acres, located in a Nashville suburb, will be sold June 27 on the steps of the old Williamson County Courthouse.

  • Chad Johnson, apologizes to Cincinnati and the Bengals, admits to acting psycho, and promises the Bengals will be in Tampa. No word on if they are going to be playing in the Super Bowl or just watching the game from the stands.

  • Daunte Culpeper could have been a Packer? Well around April it was rumored that the Packers were interested in Culpeper. Well we now know thanks to the Green Bay Gazette that they actually offered him a one-year deal worth $1million, and Culpeper declined. Meaning Culpeper severely over-estimated his value and now he will have to pray for injuries.

NFL news:

June 18, 2008

  • Javon Walker Update: Javon released a statement today on his brutal assault and robbery. He was released from the hospital and had his agent issue the statement to the public. Walker also thanked those who offered prayers and support. His Agent Kennard McGuire said Walker was "recovering in a private environment."

    The statement released said:

"Javon looks forward to getting back to his family and teammates," .... "and is looking forward to the start of the upcoming season."

If you remember, Walker was found unconscious early Monday on a street near the Las Vegas Strip after a night of partying during which he was photographed spraying a nightclub crowd with champagne for the second night in a row. Police Lt. Clinton Nichols said a large amount of cash and some jewelry were taken from Walker. Our hopes and prayers are with Javon as he faces a tough road ahead of him.

  • There are rumors floating around NFL locker rooms and the internet that this all started because of a champagne bidding war between Javon Walker and Floyd Mayweather. Javon won the bidding war, but was later assaulted by one of Floyd's thugs. Javon talked to TheDirty.com and said he answered hit hotel room door was knocked unconscious and dragged to a car and left in the street. All of this are rumors though, we will keep you posted as we find out more.

  • In other NFL news Arizona Cardinals RB and former first round pick JJ Arrington was arrested in Rocky Mount, NC for fighting. Arrington was arrested along with 4 others for fighting in a nightclub. Police in Rocky Mount said an off-duty officer called for assistance around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday after the fight broke out at the D&I Center nightclub. Arrington was charged with disorderly conduct.

Nash County sheriff's Sgt. T.R. Lamm said a magistrate later ordered Arrington held for 24 hours for contempt of court.

The four others arrested were charged with simple affray. One was also charged with assault on a government official.

  • The Cincinnati Bengals have announced that receiver Chad Johnson had ankle surgery on Wednesday.
The surgery was “completed without complication.”
Johnson is expected to be ready for training camp, which opens on July 27

  • According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Pacman no longer wants to be called Pacman.
Instead of attempting to adopt a new moniker, Jones simply wants to be known as “Adam.”

Remember our NFL previews are coming soon, but we wanted to know if you had any ideas on how we should release these previews (I.E. Worst to best, by division, or by total arrests over the offseason) Let us know if you have any ideas and we choose the best idea. You can email your ideas here or just leave them in the comment section.
