LCB NFL picks of the week: Week 9

November 1, 2008

Here at LCB HQ we have had a lot of emails from some football fans and degenerate gamblers out there, asking for our thoughts on the weekly games. So I have finally given in and now I am here to help you with your local bookie. So here are the picks that I and the LCG made this week.

+8.5 Dallas 5-3 (Road: 2-2) @ NY Giants 6-1 (Home: 4-0): Langston's Pick: There is a reason the Giants are getting 8.5 points, the Cowboys are not very good. They are without Romo, possibly Witten, and most of their defensive backs. On the opposite end of the spectrum the Giants look like the best team in the league. Don't expect much to change, Giants win big over the Boys at the Meadowlands. LCGs pick: The Cowboys understand that they need to win this game in order to stay in playoff contention. Expect the Boys to come out blazing and upset the division leading Giants.

-3 Atlanta 4-3 (Road: 1-3) @ Oakland 2-5 (Home: 1-2): Langston's Pick: Next week the Falcons have to play division rival New Orleans in a game that could help decide the NFC South. For that reason I am picking the Raiders. I see the Falcons looking past the Raiders and see them losing this game by 3. LCGs pick: I have faith that the Raiders will win at home.

+1.5 Baltimore 4-3 (Road: 1-2) @ Cleveland 3-4 (Home: 1-2): Langston's pick: Jamal Lewis will run well against his former mates, I am going with the Browns for the win but they won't cover in this field goal fest. Browns by 1. LCGs pick: This is the first and probably the last time I say anything positive about the city of Baltimore, they will win.

+4.5 Green Bay 4-3 (Road: 2-1) @ Tennessee 7-0 (Home: 4-0): Langston's pick: Aaron Rodgers just got a huge extension. With the job security in place and the opportunity to rest in last weeks bye, expect Rodgers and the Packers to outplay Kerry Collins and the short rested Titans. Packers will beat the spread. LCGs pick: The plight of Packer fans continue, Tennessee wins big.

+6 New England 5-2 (Road: 2-1) @ Indianapolis 3-4 (Home: 1-2): Langston's pick: The Colts and Patriots both look like different teams this season. The Pats have a good reason with Brady being out, while their is really no excuse for the Colts. I expect to see the Colts to keep their playoff hopes alive with a 10 point win over Cassell and the Pats. LCGs pick: Colts are stronger in almost every facet of the game, Colts win big.

+2 Pittsburgh 5-2 (Road: 3-1) @ Washington 6-2 (Home: 3-1) TV: Langston's pick: The Redskins have looked rough the past 3 weeks, with a loss to the Rams and two near losses to the Browns and Lions. I expect them to get it back on track on Monday night, surprising the Steelers with a 10 point win. LCGs pick: No pick here, but I can't wait for this game. I will be on the edge of my seat for the entire game and hopefully the Skins will make it out on top. This is the game of the week.
