The Arizona Cardinals entered the season with a lot of questions at the quarterback position. What with Matt Leinart's summer of beer bongs and coeds; the league, fans, and the team had no idea what direction the Cardinals would be going in. In steps former NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion Kurt Warner, who has led the Cardinals to a 6-3 record with his leadership on and off the field. In fact he has played so well he may need to make space on his mantle for another MVP award. The stats he has put up are remarkable, not just for a 37 year old but for any quarterback. He has already racked up 2,760 yards, 19 touchdowns to only 6 interceptions, and has a QB rating of 106.4. The one thing he needs to cut down on is fumbles, he has 6 of them. But with all the yards, touchdowns, and wins he is getting for the oft-downtrodden Cardinals; I think we can overlook the fumbles.
At this point the Cardinals are in the catbird seat of the NFC West, with almost no competition coming from their divisional foes. They are headed towards their first trip to the playoffs and first winning record since 1998. Playoffs are quite the oddity for the Cardinals as they have only been 5 times since 1947.
The rest of the season brings a lot of tests to the team, as they have games against the Giants, Eagles (@ the linc), Vikings, and Patriots (@ the razor). This week they play at Qwest Field against the 2-7 Seattle Seahawks. Who knows if the Cardinals can make it anywhere in the playoffs, but with Kurt Warner leading the way the Cardinals will not be an easy out for anyone.
