LCB NFL Picks: Week Seven
In Drody, In Langston, In NFL, In Picks, In picks of the weekOctober 25, 2009
Minnesota Vikings vs. Pittsburgh Steelers @ 1:00 on FOX:
Langston: I just got back from Charlottesville and it's 12:50 on Sunday afternoon, so all of my picks will be short and sweet this week. The Vikings have the better defense and running game; Vikes win a close one. Minnesota 35, Pittsburgh 31.
Drody: I hate the Vikings. Seriously. And all this Brett Favre stuff on the Vikings makes me sick. I really can't stand it. Brett Favre is ruining football for me. It's awful. The Steelers also need to win a big game like this against an opponent considered to be one of the best. Seeing as how the Steelers are at home, and add to that my hatred of all things Vikings this year, I'm predicting a Steelers victory. Expect Jeff Reed, Pittsburgh's drunk kicker, to pull this one out. Reed needs to redeem himself to the city of Pittsburgh, so that he can keep going out and being a drunk idiot. Steelers 23, Vikings 20.
Chicago Bears vs. Cincinnati Bengals @ 4:15 on FOX:
Langston: Going through the lineups, the only real edge either team has over the other is in the running game. So I will go with the Bears winning by a field goal over the Bengals 20 to 17.
Drody: Damn it, have to pick another Bears game. I have no idea what to expect with this team, so I'm going to be the pessimistic Bears fan this week. Hopefully, this reverse psycology works. The Bengals will most likely pull this one out, being at home. I expect Cedric Benson to have a big game, mainly to prove it to the Bears brass that got rid of him too soon. Ochocinco will probably have a big game too, whereas the wheels will keep falling off for the Bears running game. Forte hasn't been good at all this year, and I don't expect him to get any better this week. Bengals 31, Bears 17
Arizona Cardinals vs. New York Giants @ 8:20 on NBC SNF:
Langston: In the following, Drody will claim he has a new rule. But I have been using that same method for the past year and a half. Giants 35, Cardinals 21.
Drody: This is a bounce back game for the Giants, one on national TV at that. They need to prove that they still are a good team, after losing big last weekend to the Saints. And I still don't know what to think of the NFC West. I think I'm going to pick against them completely whenever a team from the NFC west is playing a different division. That's it, that's a new rule. Giants 24, Cardinals 14
Philidelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins @ 8:30 on ESPN MNF:
Langston: Andy Reid called 46 pass plays against Oakland, who happens to have one of the worst run defenses in the league. 46 pass plays! That makes absolutely no sense. But neither does giving playcalling duties to a guy halfway through the season who has been out of the NFL for 5 years and was mostly recently working at a senior citizen place calling out bingo numbers. Eagles 21, Redskins 10.
Drody: I kind of love the mess that is the Washington Redskins this year. Everyone keeps waiting for the coach to get fired, the team has yet to play a team with a victory while playing them, yet somehow this team is still awful. The Eagles, on the other hand, I think are a very good team. I expect them to win this one soundly, purely based on the terribleness of the Redskins. Eagles 35, Redskins 0
