Miami's Scrap Heaps
In Eric Dampier, In Jamaal Magloire, In Juwan Howard, In Miami Heat, In Mike Bibby, In Pat Riley, In TeachJune 27, 2011
As the Heat win their multiple championships, Pat Riley forging rings like he was in Middle Earth, a lot of veterans, and perhaps younger players, too, will find themselves cast offs of the metalworks, unprecious gems never to be heard from again, unwanted by bargain hunting yardsale stalkers. Is there anything sadder than the ring-chasing veteran who came up empty handed?
Take Jamaal Magloire and Eric Dampier for example; each was once a valuable entertainment center, the focal point of all family activities, but technology passed them by, making each one a burdensome space killer and a relic of decades past.
Mike Bibby used to be able to heat up from anywhere; he was fission made applicable to the hardships of the housewife, but then moms decided they needed more counter space, so the microwave oven needed to be installed with the cabinets. And then, vinyl wood went out of style, and it was all about stainless steel, and the Bibby 2000 was out dated.
The price didn't seem too much to ask; after all, if you think about it long enough, a riding lawnmower is a lot like a small automobile. They both have wheels and a motor, but one cuts grass. It's convenient, but then you realize it takes up half your garage, you get dizzy from constantly having to turn in a yard the size of your bedroom closet, and the thing guzzles gas in an age when $1.45 isn't even half a gallon. Plus, the guy pushing his own mower just finished his yard before yours.
Perhaps, you should have gone with this model (the Troy Murphy of riding mowers):

Probably can add Big Z to the list. He is more like a grandfather clock. Both tall, skinny, and still provide a necessary asset to still exist, but are antiquated and hard to move.
June 27, 2011 at 9:45 PMWould have but he exercised his player option for next year.
June 27, 2011 at 9:53 PMSo he's still ticking. The other guys won't be back.
June 27, 2011 at 9:53 PMGetting cut or getting traded are just as likely as him being back. He couldn't exercise that player option fast enough.
June 27, 2011 at 10:07 PMIf BIg Z does wind up back w/ the Heat, then can we call him the Brave Little Toaster?
June 29, 2011 at 4:11 PMIt is very interesting to say that.. It is also great to see that progress is coming to the Sunshine State and that riding a bike is no longer taboo, but is being embraced by allWheels Miami
