Field Trip to.... October 1983

October 7, 2008

I made this photo of Mike Schmidt yesterday with no clue of how to include it. So I figured "Field Trip to..." would be perfect for it. So here you go, our first Field Trip to...(ed note: it may not be every Wednesday, but I thought it sounded good):

Field Trip to .... October 1983:
In celebration of the team's 100th anniversary, Schmidt was voted by fans as the greatest player in the history of the franchise. Schmidt would lead the Phillies past the Dodgers 3-1 en route to the World Series, where they wound up losing to the Baltimore Orioles and some rookie named Cal.

The following song was number one on Billboards top 100.

Never Say Never Again was number one at the box office for all but one week of the month. Ronald Reagan was busy debating and campaigning against Walter Mondale, where the biggest issues were the nations deficit of $250 billion, the Cold War, and Reagans age.

Last but not least, the commercials of 1983.
