Furcal signs with the Dodgers

December 17, 2008

When the A's missed the boat on Furcal, their fans called it demoralizing.

When Raffy's agent called the Braves telling them thanks but no thanks, the brass in Atlanta wound up pretty ticked off.

When Furcal decided to stay in Los Angeles, Dodger fans were wondering one thing. How much? The deal is for the same amount and length that the Braves offered, 3 years and $30 million. So whats next for the Dodgers? They plan on praying Manny comes back to LA sans pinstripes, while filling out the rotation and bullpen. According to the Dodgers website, the free agent pitchers their considering consist of Jon Garland, Randy Wolf, Trevor Hoffman and Randy Johnson. Personally I like the possibility of Hoffman replacing Saito and Johnson coming in to boost his numbers while tutoring Kershaw and McDonald. But I still have bad memories of Wolf from 2007, and I don't know enough about Garland to be positive or negative about the outlook of him in Dodger blue. I do know that I miss hearing Scully's voice, the smell of hot dogs cooking on the grill, the crack of a bat when it connects, the way a beer tastes at the ballpark; wait so how long until pitchers and catchers report? Thanks CBS, at least now I know the deadline for salary arbitration filing is in 17 days.
