Time Wasters: two reasons to watch hockey
In Boston, In Boston Bruins, In Calgary, In Capitals, In hockey, In Langston, In Maple Leafs, In NHL, In timewasters, In TorontoOctober 24, 2008
There may be more reasons, but it's Friday and I really don't feel like a making a definitive list of arguments in hockeys favor. Watch the two clips provided and if it doesn't make you want to watch more games than you can be rest assured your ironclad defense system against liking anything Canadian is unyielding.
First up is a clip from a Bruins-Leafs game, where Milan Lucic of the Bruins checks the Leafs' Mike Van Ryn through the glass.... via AA
The second clip, which comes via With Leather, shows Tyler Sloan of the Caps absolutely demolishing Daymond Lankow of Calgary.
Have a good weekend everyone.

NHL Schedule Announced
In hockey, In NHL, In Smitty, In Winter Classic, In Wrigley FieldJuly 18, 2008
The NHL recently released schedule details for the 2008-2009 season. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this year's schedule is that the Winter Classic will be played on New Years Day at Wrigley Field! The annual outdoor game will pit the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings against the up and coming Chicago Blackhawks. The season will kick off overseas in October when the Rangers and Lightning face off at Sazka Arena in Prauge, and the Senators square off against the defending Eastern Conference champion Pittsburgh Penguins at Globe Arena in Stockholm. This season's All-Star game will be held in January at Bell Centre in Montreal.
Tiger Loves the Dodgers
In Dodgers, In golf, In hockey, In Langston, In Tiger WoodsJune 4, 2008

Who watches hockey anymore? Well apparently not Tiger Woods, during a conference call held yesterday for the upcoming PGA Championship. This statement came just hours before the Penguins and the Red Wings triple OT thriller that scored a 4.3/8 rating -- the highest rating for a Game Five since 2002's Finals between the Red Wings and the Carolina Hurricanes.
To tell you the truth, as a Dodger fan, that is what I am thinking most of the day. Here I will give you some real life examples:
JULIUS MASON: Mr. Woods, Julius Mason here. We're joined by about 75 of
your closest friends and I think off the top of their head they have one burning
question for you, Detroit or Pittsburgh tonight? In the Stanley Cup finals.
(Laughter.)
TIGER WOODS: That's pretty good. I don't really care, let's talk
about the Dodgers. (Laughter.)
JULIUS MASON: Politically correct as always
and that's what we ?
TIGER WOODS: I don't think anybody really watches hockey
any more. (Laughter.)
To tell you the truth, as a Dodger fan, that is what I am thinking most of the day. Here I will give you some real life examples:
- When my girlfriend is telling me about this new purse she got herself, I think "I dont really care, lets talk about the Dodgers."
- During english class, during a discussion on Tolstoy I think to myself "I dont really care, lets talk about the Dodgers."
To be fair he was talking about something much more boring than my girlfriends new purse.
